»Developments in the Rights of Surviving Spouses« With regard to the diverse development history of the law governing the inheritance of spouses, this study presents an offer of explanations informed by the history of codification, which, behind the technical legal formulation of the various dimensions of inheritance and matrimonial property law, sees a balancing out of the conflicting interests of the surviving spouse and the relatives of the testator in a time-bound manner.
