»Functional Elements of the Freedom of Association of Art. 11 ECHR« The ECtHR develops the requirements of Art. 11 ECHR from the functional elements. Those elements reflect what Member States consider to be essential for the functioning of a collective system. An anal-ysis of the ECtHR case law demonstrates how requirements can be developed and what limits have to be observed. Art. 11 ECHR only contains specific requirements if the goal of the association cannot be pursuit effectively.
